On Aug. 12, Mayor Kurt Wilson was joined by City Councilmembers and City leaders at the site of Roswell’s Public Safety Headquarters to provide an update about how Roswell’s proactive policing is keeping dangerous drugs off our streets and protecting Roswell’s families.

In joint operation, the Roswell Police Department, U.S. Customs and Border Protection, and Homeland Security Investigations recently seized more than $750,000 worth of methamphetamine and cocaine, made two arrests, and shut down a suspected drug conversion lab in a Roswell apartment.

“We are building a city where criminals know they are not welcome and where families know they are protected. Roswell will remain one of the safest and most secure cities in America — because that’s what our residents deserve, and that’s what we’ll continue to deliver.”

    Mayor Kurt Wilson

This is yet another way that the City of Roswell is backing its mission with action, delivering the highest levels of public safety and service excellence, as we become the #1 family community in the nation.

    More Information about the Investigation

A joint investigation between the Roswell Police Department (RPD), U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), and Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) has led to the arrest of two individuals, the seizure of over 15 kilograms of methamphetamine and cocaine, and the discovery of a suspected drug conversion lab.

The investigation began on August 2, when CBP intercepted a package from Mexico containing nearly 8 kilograms of liquid methamphetamine, destined for a Roswell apartment. CBP notified RPD detectives, who linked the package and its recipient to 290 Old Holcomb Bridge Way in the Villas Del Mirasol Apartments.

On August 7, detectives conducted a controlled delivery of the package. Under close surveillance, detectives watched as a resident accepted the delivery. Once the package was brought inside, the team immediately served a search warrant. They detained two suspects inside: Mariel Galan-Arguello and Martin Domingo.

A subsequent search of the apartment uncovered a sophisticated drug operation. In addition to the delivered package, detectives found six more bottles of liquid methamphetamine, as well crystal methamphetamine and cocaine. The street value of the drugs totaled over $750,000.

Detectives also located a significant amount of material used for trafficking, including drug packaging, ledgers, multiple cell phones, digital scales, and over $10,000 in U.S. currency. A key discovery was several bottles of a specific chemical agent commonly used to convert liquid methamphetamine into its crystal form, leading investigators to believe the apartment was being used as a drug conversion lab.

Martin Domingo and Mariel Galan-Arguello were taken into custody and transported to the Fulton County Jail. Both face charges of trafficking methamphetamine and trafficking cocaine.

This proactive investigation highlights the Roswell Police Department’s commitment to protecting our community from dangerous drugs. We are proud to advance the city’s mission of best-in-class safety, a goal made possible by the resources and support received from the City of Roswell’s Mayor and Council.

This remains an active investigation, and additional arrests may be forthcoming. Anyone with additional information should contact the Roswell Police Department at 770-640-4100.
